INTRODUCTION TO THE NATURAL WORLD – ONE DAY VISIT

Theme: Symbiotic Relation between Man and Nature
Tour Site: Aravalli Biodiversity Park, Poorvi Marg, Vasant Vihar, New Delhi
Tour Duration: 5 hours. Day Visit from 11.30 AM to 4.30 PM (all days except Sunday)
Group Size: Maximum 30-35 persons (including teachers/escorts)

Travel & Travel Time: School to make own travel arrangements from the school to Delhi and back. Travel time Meerut to South Delhi by bus is approximately 3.30 hours and by car 2.30 hours.

Field Tours: All tours involve walking. Average walking distances 1-2 Km.
Meals & Refreshments: Participants need to bring own packed lunch, water and light snacks
Facilities Available: First Aid, Toilets, Film Auditorium, Seminar Room, Qualified Instructors

EduTours Footnote: The Aravalli Biodiversity Park, also called the Natural Bioreserve of Delhi, is a unique single window display for diversity of life forms for the Aravalli Range spread across from Gujarat to Delhi. The Biodiversity Park is an open-air laboratory for students as it provides them with opportunities to understand nature and its complex web of life forms.

The Tour is designed to provide learning through field exposure to forest communities, rangeland, flowering plants, mammals, avifauna, amphibians and reptiles, medicinal plants, orchids, ferns and butterflies. As many as 2000 species of plants and animals live among 35 biotic communities.

Restoration of ecosystems to revive and generate ecological services to the city such recharging of ground water, ameliorating local weather and serving as a sink of carbon dioxide and other pollutants. The Biodiversity Park is developed on 699 acres of land with the primary goal of restoration of native biodiversity of the Aravallis.

The Aravalli Biodiversity Park is a project of the University of Delhi, Centre for Environmental Management of Degraded Ecosystems (CEMDE) in collaboration with the Delhi Development Authority.

Theme: River Natural Heritage Restoration
Tour Site: Yamuna Biodiveristy Park, Jagatpur Village Road, Near Wazirabad, Near Delhi Ring Road
Tour Duration: 5 hours. Day Visit from 11.30 AM to 4.30 PM (all days except Sunday)
Group Size: Maximum 30-35 persons (including teachers/escorts)

Travel & Travel Time: School to make own travel arrangements from the school to Delhi and back. Travel time Meerut to South Delhi by bus is approximately 3 hours and by car 2 hours (recommended via Baghpat, Sonepat, NH 22 to Delhi, turn left at Mukarba Chowk on Ring Road towards ISBT/Rajghat).

Field Tours: All tours involve walking. Average walking distances 1-2 Km.
Meals & Refreshments: Participants need to bring own packed lunch, water and light snacks

EduTours Footnote: The Yamuna Biodiversity Park, and the first Natural Bioreserve of Delhi, is a unique single window display for diversity of life forms and exemplifies the successful recreation of Delhi's natural heritage, the river Yamuna. The Biodiversity Park is an open-air laboratory for students as it provides them with opportunities to understand nature and its complex web of life forms.

The Tour is designed to provide learning through field exposure to conservatories of medicinal plants, butterflies, fruit plants, rangelands, sacred grove, migratory ducks. In winter months migratory ducks visit the Park from as far as Siberia, Central Asia, Europe and China.

The Biodiversity Park is spread over 457 acres in the upstream of river Yamuna. The nature reserve is home to 2000 plant and animal species living in some 30 biotic communities. The forest communities of Yamuna river basin are recreated having diverse ecological niches that not only attract a wide range of animal species but enables them to build viable populations through nesting and breeding.
